Google own tons of our data. They own search engine, Youtube, Waze and many others services which serve us well by making our life easier. Currently we use our smart phone, phablet or tablet when we want to watch our favourite artists on Vevo, to navigate us safely through traffic or call our friends on hand free mode. It is part our life. With the latest version of Android Lollipop (5.0), Google have released Android Auto for developers to start developing amazing apps suitable for millions of users. Android Auto is said to be the answer for Apple’s CarPlay. With Android Auto, it offer interface for music, messaging, search and navigation with Android device plugged into compatible and similar equipped device in cars.
Compare to Apple which target luxury cars, Android Auto are more focus on cars used by most people. Popular name like Honda, Nissan, Audi, VW, Ford etc have confirm to support the new ecosystem.
But Google does not stopped and satisfied with their current achievement. They have said to be working on new operating system which specifically built to control the functions of vehicle and work as central command. No comment from Google yet but the new operating system is said to be working independently without the needs of external Android devices. But of course you can connect your phone to Android M. With always-on-internet connection, Google are able to provide better experience to all of their current and future users.
Imagine when you get into the car, login to your account and it will set things like seat position, lists your favourite internet channels sync from your internet radio apps and continue watching your favourite Youtube channel in your car. With Waze and autonomous driving, you can also get the best way to get home and the car drive for itself. Is it amazing? By the way, since Google love to named their Android with a name of food, maybe the Android M will be known as Android “Mooncake”.
