BMW had made the introduction for their new BMW M8 GTE. The GTE is stands for endurance grand tour and the car is participating in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The race car is replacing BMW M6 GTLM which being retired at the end of 2017 season. BMW will also make a comeback to the 24 Hours of Le Mans race after absense for 6 years.
The BMW M8 GTE was designed by BMW chief engineer Dominic Harlow. You can’t buy the BMW M8 GTE at your local dealership yet. It is normal for car manufacturer to test the technology and its car reliability by participting in a brutal race event.
With the BMW M8 GTE, we are bringing cutting-edge technology to the top international class of GT racing, whilst at the same time tying in with our tradition at Le Mans. The development of the BMW M8 GTE is on schedule, and we can hardly wait to see the car challenging for victories in 2018.

The engine of the M8 GTE is mainly based on the production car’s engine. It is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 with 500 horsepower. The M8 production model is expecting to have a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 from the M5 model with 650 horsepower.
BMW is expecting to introduce the new BMW 8-Series by 2019 with BMW 8-Series Coupe and Convertible model before having a four doors model later at the same year.
