It is estimated more than 63,000 diesel cars will be recalled back in Europe. It is due to the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system which acts differently in real world condition. During the lab test, the EGR system will shutdown on particular temperature depends on the manufacturers as planned. But the system is not activated when the cold weather in Europe is below 17 degrees Celcius. It is not a manipulation strategy from the manufacturers, but the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) is in talks with Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Porsche and Volkswagen to handle this matter.
