I thought the new Nissan Skyline GT-R50 concept by Italdesign is just a clay model. But both companies have brought the car to the Goodwood festival of speed to preview it for the first time.
The car is special because this prototype car is to celebrate 50 years of GT-R, in 2019, and 50 years of Italdesign, in 2018. It is for the first time both companies were worked together.
The design process started from a lot of sketches followed by a real scale clay model with more refinement have been made. The original designs for the interior and exterior were orginated from Nissan’s design centers in London and San Diego.
Then, the actual car is being built on top of the latest Nissan Skyline R35 NISMO. Italdesign have been given the responsibility to develop, engineer and construct the car. A lot of bodyworks, fabrications for custom parts and modifications have been made by them.
The Italdesign have cooperate the heritage and science from previous Skyline models. The GT-R50 design revolutionize the Skyline GTR but they have maintained elements to distinguished GTR compared to other cars.
